I really love how books can show you the person who owns them. Yes, my cousin wrote her name in this, but it’s more than that. She thought it was important to put her full name and her teacher’s name in this. I love how she added her middle name as an afterthought. And the scribble/underline to her teacher’s name. And I like to think that the tear in the cover is because she was just SO EXCITED to open this book that it ripped. And the creases on the cover show that she held the book open with her left hand. 
These breaks in the spine are the most loved parts. These stains are from when Emily chose this book as her snacking companion. These dog ears point to moving passages.
